Proposition F is a 1% sales tax dedicated to funding the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Maryland

Heights Fire Protection District. This measure supports the services residents rely on every day, including emergency response, staffing, training, equipment, and fire station operations.

Proposition F reduces property taxes. Each year, the District

must lower its total property tax levy by an amount equal to

50% of the sales tax revenue collected the previous year.

The sales tax is paid by anyone making taxable purchases within the District, including visitors and non-residents helping share the cost of emergency services beyond property owners alone.

Proposition F funds support the day-to-day operation of the Fire District, including emergency response services that must be staffed, equipped, and maintained every day to answer 911 calls.

Emergency services cannot pause or scale back. Proposition F provides a stable, dedicated funding source that helps ensure emergency response remains reliable, consistent, and ready—while also helping offset property taxes.

Sales tax revenue is governed by state law, overseen by the Fire District Board, and subject to public transparency and

regular audits.
